THE PROCESS

After the backstrap channel has been prepped by roughing up with sandpaper, sharp probe or as I prefer with a Dremel tool and a long bit to reach the total depth of the cavity it is washed with denatured alcohol or other degreaser. The Devcon can be injected via a gun with a long mixing nozzle.

Allow the Devcon to cure as per the manufacturers directions.

Once the grip has been shaped, recontoured, feathered, reprofiled or reduced prep the outside area to be filled by roughing, stippling etc. and degreasing.

Apply the Devcon to the prepped area. I use a small piece of a flexible bondo applicator and allow to cure.

After the Devcon cures shape to the desired contour with varying grits of sandpaper working thru the grits from 60 grit to 320 grit.

Outlines, borders, designs can be drawn on the grip to guide or contain the stipple. The pencil lines will be easy to remove with a Dremel and plastic bristled wheel.

Take your time and experiment if you like. Creativity is the essance of all progress! Have fun
